Rebounding from testicular cancer, Chief Warrant Officer Aaron Weaver could have stayed put at Fort Bragg when his unit shipped out to Iraq last year. But that wasn''t like him. Weaver, 32, of Inverness, Fla., had worked hard to get himself back into shape after cancer surgery in 2002, and got a special medical clearance to fly his OH-58 observer helicopter in Iraq, his father, Mike Weaver said. "He wanted to go to Iraq," his father said. "When you''re in a group like that, you don''t want your friends to leave you behind." Weaver was on a Black Hawk helicopter en route to Baghdad for a checkup when the craft was shot down south of Fallujah, Iraq. The Jan. 8 crash killed eight other soldiers. As an Army Ranger, Weaver survived the October 1993 battle of Mogadishu in Somalia that was recounted in the book and film, "Black Hawk Down." He helped save a buddy''s life and is featured in a documentary on the battle.

Not sure what to say?

It was a pleasure serving with you Aaron. I fondly remember our laughs on the flightline as well as your selflessness to always help out the crew chiefs to get the mission completed. You volunteered to help wash aircraft or complete maintenance work orders. Always leading from the front to emulate the leadership that a RANGER exemplifies! Thank you for the fond memories brother. Til Valhalla. RLTW!

Played with my son Ian when they were very young. His mom Kelly and my mother Bette were good friends. Lost Ian in 2000. Aaron's death 4 yrs later. Floored my mom. Reached out to Kelly today. Godspeed to a great family !! Marc Hawley.

Thank you Aaron for your service and sacrifice for our country.

You still remain very much alive in our hearts. Xoxo

To the family and friends of CWO Aaron A. Weaver:
It has truly been my honor to sign Aaron's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that Aaron will always be remembered in my home.
With love and respect ~ Peggy
