When six soldiers in his Stryker Brigade were killed in a suicide bombing, Aaron N. Seesan stood up and volunteered to replace the dead. He reasoned that the only other person of his rank who could go had a wife and kids. Seesan, 25, of Massillon, Ohio, was killed May 22 when a bomb struck the gas tank of the vehicle he was riding in, causing it to burst into flames. He was burned over 80 percent of his body, but remained conscious when medics arrived and directed them to care for other wounded soldiers. Seesan had developed a sudden interest in the Army and World War II history in elementary school. "He literally was playing with dinosaurs one day and the next day had little Army soldiers in his sandbox," said his mother, Chiquita. An altar boy and an Eagle Scout, he played football and ran track in high school and participated in speech and drama. He graduated in 2003 from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., to which he won a congressional appointment. He was based at Fort Lewis. He is also survived by his father, Thomas.

Not sure what to say?

Thank you for your service and many sacrifices, sir. America is a better, safer place due to you and yours. Rest in peace. Your sacrifices are never forgotten.

I am sorry for your loss. I never met Aaron, but he definitely is a hero and true patriot. Both my brother and niece graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy and I know he left a heros impression on those he came into contact with. Rest In Peace on angels wings...

Thank you all for your kind words and love towards my brother and our family! The support we have gotten over the last 12 years has truly been a blessing and deeply appreciated! Thank you for keeping Aaron's memory alive! He was truly an amazing individual who is greatly missed.

On this saddest of days, we thank 1st. Lt. Aaron Seesan for his service. We deeply respect his ultimate sacrifice. Rest well, brave warrior and hero, they work is done.

My son, Logan Riley, recognized 1st Lt. Aaron Seesan today at Buckeye Boys State during the memorial. What an honor for our son, 1st Lt. Seesan was an incredible man. He and his family will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Seesan Family,
My son is currently a Plebe at Kings Point, Class of 2018. Acceptance Day is Aug 9th and as I sought a gift, I purchased what I thought was a USMMA Challenge Coin. It was sobering to learn about your son Aaron and the Honor Coin he designed when he was Regimental Honor Board Chairman.

On behalf of my family, thank you for your sacrifice. In my house, we will never forget.

Seesan Family,

It's been many years since I was in school with Arron. I always called him Seesan and will always remember him as a phenomenal individual and a great friend. On Veteran's day I think of Seesan and give thanks for his sacrifice for my freedom.

Seesan you will never be forgotten. Kick those pearly gates open for me when I head up, I'll bring the beer.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Seesan Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. ...
