My parents were friends of Julia and Seymour Gerstenhaber. I remember a life-size portrait Aaron did of his sister, Julia, which was displayed in their apartment. It was remarkable.

I was so saddened to read of Aaron's death. A wonderful person, a wonderful artist, a great loss.

My connection with your parents began when your mother and I worked together at the New-York Historical Society, 1975-1981. I headed a research project collecting and publishing the papers of Aaron Burr. We all remember your mother and father for their wit and gaiety and common sense and idealism. I remember your mother most vividly for her six-month career on a picket line of librarians. (My staff and I were excluded from the bargaining unit,so we couldn't join the union. We did,...

I always loved looking at the large oil portrait of Robert Lehman that hung at the entrance to the Lehman Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. It is a wonderful painting done by Aaron Shikler.

You were the last of your cousin Benjamin's generation.Rest in peace.
