Aaron Stackhouse Obituary

AARON VIRGIL STACKHOUSE
AUG 28, 1916 - NOV 23, 2011
Aaron Stackhouse was born on August 28, 1916, to Virgil and Mintie Stackhouse in Arkansas. He was raised on a small farm where he learned to work, play in the woods, and fish in the streams. His mother Mintie was a great cook, and the house was often full of cousins and other relatives.
The family endured many difficulties during the Depression and when they moved to California during the '30s, Aaron was thrilled. He discovered he enjoyed working in the orchards, especially peaches at which he excelled.
When Aaron married Alla Tidwell, he found an equally hard worker and dedicated wife. They had two sons, Rodney and Don, who also grew to love farming when the family acquired their own orchards. Aaron became well-known for his hard work and skill at producing large crops.
Aaron was a kind, honest, and generous man with a deep love for the Lord and His church. He was very involved in the Southern Baptist Church of Waterford and later at Berkeley Avenue Baptist Church in Turlock, both of which provided him with many close friends.
After more than 50 years of marriage, Alla passed away in 1992. Aaron later married a long-time family friend, Louise Jackson, who survives him. They had 18 years together, and Louise has been a caring and faithful wife.
Aaron died peacefully at home on November 23rd, at the age of 95. The family is grateful for the years they have had him as a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife, two sons, two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Aaron's wonderful caregivers, Marie Snell, Debbie Ihrig-Gratton, and Kande Ford.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Hospice of Emanuel, P.O. Box 819005, Turlock, CA  95381-9005.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Berkeley Avenue Baptist Church in Turlock, 2813 N. Berkeley Ave., Turlock, CA.

I was 10 when Aaron and my great grannie married and Aaron was always so accepting of us rambunctious kids. He always treated us like we were his own great grandchildren and told us many stories over the years of his life in Arkansas and tending to his orchards. His devotion to family and faith is admirable. He will be deeply missed, but in our hearts and memories forever. I light a candle for Aaron to reflect the warmth and love he gave to me over the last 18 years of my life. Now may he sit with Lord and watch over us all.
