Abby Angela (Middleton) Hansen

Des Moines - Abby Angela (Middleton) Hansen died on March 24, 2019. The purple princess has left the building and she will be missed. She was loved and supported by many good friends and family members. Abby was the fourth daughter of Joan & Lyle Middleton. She recently celebrated 5 years of marriage to Edward Hansen.

Abby had a deep love for animals. She loved horses from a young age and especially enjoyed riding on the sandy beaches of the Caribbean. She also loved dolphins and would jump at any opportunity to swim with them. She believed in unicorns and the magic that they bring. With that strong belief, Abby taught those who knew & loved her that with patience, imagination, and perseverance all things were possible.

Abby is survived by her husband, Edward Hansen, of DSM, his grandchildren, Dontez & Preston Burns; Abby's mother, Joan Middleton, of DSM, her 3 sisters, Anne Middleton, Mary Middleton (Suzanne Levitt), Sara Bering, all of DSM and Sara's children, Nathaniel (Abby's Noodle) and Elizabeth Bering. She was preceded in death by her father, Lyle Middleton.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 29th at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines at 10:00am. The family asks in lieu of flowers and per Abby's request to donate to the Animal Rescue League.

Not sure what to say?

I was shocked and saddened to learn that Abby passed away. We were good friends many years ago but had fallen out of contact over the past few years. My condolences to her family for their loss.

Im so truly sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Abby. Please allow the fondest memories shared with your loved one to be a soothing blanket over your heart. May Gods words of promise found in John 6:40 bring you consolation and a small measure of peace.

Abby, you are very unique ... In fact, you may have been in with those unicorns running wild and free and leaving your magic through the dust your hooves kicked up, always trying to turn a negative into a positive.
You will not be forgotten and you will be missed even more. Wishing I could turn back the hands of time to be able to visit you one more time before having to say goodbye. Ride with the wind, wild and free and never have to hide your horn again. You were magical.

My condolences to Abby's family, who loved her so much.

Sending love to you all at this time of loss. I will honor Abby by empowering her "all things are possible" often, and holding dear, fond memories of our past.

One of the few times im at a loss for words. So sorry.Melodie barkley
