Not sure what to say?

I was one of this lovely man's students at South Eugene in the 80s, and I have to say that he was, by far, one of the most compassionate and effective teachers I have ever had. He helped me to remember why I loved math. He was always funny, kind, and helpful. A highlight of my high school years. I hope that his family has found peace after his passing, especially in their memories and the knowledge that he so positively effected so many lives.

I'm just reading this now - long after his passing. Mr. Tarzaban was a wonderful teacher. I was not a big fan of math, but he was always patient and understanding. He felt like a friend (even when I had to repeat his course!) and he even wrote a recommendation that helped me get into college. I spent my 3 years at South in his classroom and I came to appreciate equations (at least) and the importance of math! My favorite memories are from when he dropped math and taught us about Iran - there...

I've actually just read through the kind things people have said about my father. He is one of the most influential individuals I have ever had the pleasure to love and know. I will forever try to live up to his example and will carry on his legacy. After all, I'm his son. TY all.

I also learned at a former SE Faculty Member Glen Trusty died around this same time.

I miss you Abdul Tarzaban who are a wonderful math teacher friend and amazing spirit you always had a smile on! You named me Maruka in math class. You changed the way people say math! Thank you ! I'm so sorry that you are gone.

I just saw this and I am very sorry. I didn't know him well, but he was a nice man. I extend my most dearest and deepest sympathy to his family. R.I.P

While math was a least favorite subject, Mr Tarzaban was a most favorite teacher. He was kind and gentle with those of us not well endowed with The Math Smarts. I think of him every time I say the word "parabola". (Oddly this happens more often than one would think.)

I am saddened to see Abdulla passed from Alzheimer's. Having some experience with this wretched illness, I hope his family knows while his own recollections may have grown hazy, thru his family, friends and students,...

I am so sorry for your loss of this dear, gentle, funny man. We met in October 1958 a few months after he had arrived in Eugene. I tried to help him with his English and he taught me some Farsi. We have remained friends through the years and it was always delightful to run into my old friend again. He will be so missed. I have some snapshots of his first year here if the family is interested. I am in the phone book.

It was once said that our lives are shaped by those who love us, and those who refuse to love us. I know that when I walked into Mr. Tarzaban's Trigonometry class one could feel the love, care, and concern he had for his students. He was kind and patient with all his students including this Math challenged individual. His was the last Math class I had in high school and it was a wonderful way to end my Math career. He was full of life, humor, interest, passion, and compassion. He could be...
