Abel Ouanes

Lynn Food InspectorPEABODY-Mr. Abel Ouanes, age 60, of West Peabody died peacefully on Saturday at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Beloved and cherished husband to Mary Beth (Hunter) Ouanes with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.Abel was born in Tunisia, son of the late Abdesselem and Saida (Boutouria) Ouanes. Abel received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Finance from Salem State College.Abel was the Senior Food Inspector for the City of Lynn Health and Inspectional Department for over 29 years.Abel was Past President of the Local 93 AFSCME. He was also active with the Peabody Youth Soccer for many years and was a soccer referee in Essex County. He also served as a Justice of the Peace for many years.In addition to his wife he was a devoted and proud father to Alexander Ouanes and his wife Molly of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Jean-Pierre Phillip Ouanes and his fiance' Minh Chau Nguyen of Albany,NY, Adam L. Ouanes and Michael J. Ouanes both of Peabody. He was the brother of Abdessatar Ouanes and his wife Aliona of Potomac, MD, and also leaves seven more brothers and four sisters. He also leaves his former wife and dear friend Eileen Harrington McClelland of Marblehead. He was the son in law of Atty. John and Loretta Nestor of Lynn and David B. and Jean Hunter of Las Crucez, NM. Abel is further survived by many nieces and nephews including Bacem Moussa and his wife Jenny of Arlington.Service Information: Abel's Funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. LYNN on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service in St. Mary's Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
