Dear Chavez Family:

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

For all the songs you sang to us throughout our lives, the laughter we shared, your wit and intelligence, your daily prayers for us as a family.....these are some of the things I will miss and cherish forever. Dad, I thank the Good Lord for the many years we had you in our lives.

Each one of you carries a peice of him with you, keep his memory alive and remember the good times and all of the laughter and joy he brought to your lives. May God's peace be with your family, we love you.

I will miss you, grandpa. I just smile when I think of all the great (funny and sarcastic) things that you would say. Some of my greatest memories are how generous you were to your family. I love you.

My heart goes out to the entire Chavez family for their lost of a wonderful man. I met Abel while working at Newforest Estates as a waitress my first day there he greeted me with the most beautiful smile. I could remember even on my worst day's Abel would give me his great words of wisdom to help me get through the day. I will never forget his beautiful smile and his love for music. We are so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and great grandfather. He was blessed to have the love of his family throughout his life and especially during his final hours. We hold you all in our prayers as you mourn your loss.
