The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., announces with the deepest sympathy the transition of brother Abidene "ND" Ludgood.


Abidene “ND” Ludgood was born July 24th, 1942, in Carlton, Alabama to the late McKinley and Dannie Ludgood.


Abidene attended Harper High School in Jackson Alabama. He graduated in 1962 and moved to Los Angeles in 1963.


In 1964 he met Bettie McGhee and in 1965 they were married. From this union two sons were born Michael Anthony and Kenneth Edward. They lived in Los Angeles from 1963 until 2007. In October 2007 “ND” and Bettie moved to Satsuma, AL where he lived until his passing.


He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Pacific Smelten in Torrance, CA for 20 years and Quemetco Inc. in City of Industry, CA for another 20 years. In his spare time he loved to BBQ for his family, working on anyone’s car, and fishing.


He was a faithful member of Walker Temple AME Church where he served on the Trustee Board and was a member of the Willing Workers charity club. In 2008 he joined Bethel AME Church in Mobile, AL where he was a member of the Greeters club. He was always willing to do work around the church without being asked.


Abidene departed this life on February 2, 2021, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Bettie, two sons Michael (Brenda) Corona, CA; Kenneth (Tasha) Lakewood, CA; grandson Derrion of Moreno Valley, CA. Four sisters Dolores Dean; Janet (Eddie) James, Jackson, AL; Clara Louise Todd of Eight Mile, AL; Dannie (Arthur) Spencer, Mobile, AL; McKinley, Lorraine and Laurie preceded him in death. In-Laws James Mcghee, Nancy Biel and John McGhee of Los Angeles and Joyce Jones of Kansas. His devoted cousin and mischievous running mate Charlie (Johnny) Collins (Leona) of Tuscaloosa, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

I'll always remember the year Estes and I came to Alabama and went house shopping with you, Betty and McKinley touring those beautiful model homes, then you guys got yours. What memories. Betty just take it one day at a time. U kno I've been there, so I'm here for you.

We Loved You But God Loved You Best. One thing have I desired of the Lord; that I will seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His Temple.

My Cousin Abidene "ND" was a great man. He always looked out for me when we were growing up. He was a great role model and I learned a lot from him. He will be greatly missed! Sleep on Cousin. Till we meet Again!

This is your GodSon, he's finally heading home. All now you SHOULD do is Celebrate the life he's lived. That message was to my Godmother and God Brother's family. And to my God Father I am wishing you a safe passage to the other side.

Word can't all say how much you'll miss someone but I can say that I'm a better man just by knowing you ill miss you

My deepest condolences to my brothers Mike and Ken ,, your dad was the best,, when I used to come over on Manchester and we used to have those talks outside in the front yard for hours,,and if I had any questions about my car ,, he had the answerand to Betty his wife and soulmate may God comfort and keep you and give you a peace that passes all understanding. Love you all
