Born in Greenwich, CT Adam spent his childhood growing up in Stamford, where he was a precocious, fun loving and mischievous child. But Adam most enjoyed was the salt air and EVERYTHING boating. He may have painted his first bottom before he could write his name. His beloved family always had a boat that came with work for him to do on it. And he worked hard to buy his first of many boats, a Sailfish, aptly named the 1 Adam 12. His family has kept a boat at the Ponus Yacht club for generations, and he worked around the marinas in Stamford all through school, making friends everywhere he went. He was not only an avid boater, but an accomplished one. Adam was an incredible friend to many. But the one thing Adam loved more than his friends, were his parents, which he devoted himself to throughout his entire life.
In high school, he played Football and Lacrosse. After graduating from King School in 1991, Adam continued his education at the University of Miami where he rowed crew, studied Marine Management, and taught scuba. After leaving Miami, he moved to Washington D.C. to attend the Corcoran School of Art where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design in 1996. He stayed in the D.C. and Northern Virginia area for almost 10 years where he worked in media, as well as fiber optic cable at the Pentagon and the Kennedy Center. Adam was a man that was never afraid of hard work but genuinely respected the people he worked with.
After leaving Virginia, Adam returned home and started working at West Marine. Within a short period of time, he was promoted to District Manager. He managed stores on the Hudson River and New Jersey waterways. On one of his trips to California at the corporate office, he met Terri. A little while later, they began living in New Jersey together, and in 2012, they married. Then, in 2013, they welcomed their beautiful son Dylan into this world. Immediately, Adam devoted himself to being the best father he could be, and as anyone would say, he truly was. They swam in the oceans, fished in the bays, rode bikes, flew kites and skied. Dylan was his world. He did anything and everything for his family and they loved him dearly.
Adam has friends in so many places and made them his family wherever he was. During the 10 years he lived in Jersey, Adam continued to work in the marine industry, most recently as the Service Manager at Hoffman's Marina Everyone knew he was a passionate, caring, generous soul. His personality would fill a room, his stories and laughter could be heard from miles away. He was always a giver, and not a taker, yet left us all too soon. He was the light of his parents' eyes, the whole of his wife's heart and the soul of his beautiful son. Fair seas and tight lines. We love you with all of our hearts.
Carolyn and Mel will be at home to welcome friends Saturday and Sunday October 20th and October 21st between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
In the spring, Adam's family will hold a remembrance on the Long Island Sound. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Save the Sound or the American Heart Association.
