Adam Jeffry Newsome

Obituary

NEWSOME, Adam Jeffry, 26, of Chester, went Home to be with his Lord and his mother, Susan Bailey, on September 3, 2009. He is survived by his father, Jeff Newsome; his sister, Rachael Fulop, her husband, Will, and their son, Hunter; his grandparents, Kitty Newsome, Harold and Marcie Bailey; and his aunts and uncles, Harold and Sandy Newsome, Rickey Newsome, and Rob and Barbara Lockridge; and his cousins, Andy Newsome, Jenny Newsome, and Josh Lockridge. Adam was a lover of cooking, nature, independent films, and making music. Adam had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted all who knew him with his imaginative stories and jokes. Adam lost a hard-fought battle against a powerful drug addiction, but his spirit will always remain in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at one of Adam's favorite places, the rocks of the James River, at a later date.
This obituary was originally published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Not sure what to say?

Beverly Edwards is a friend of my family. I am so sorry to hear of Adams passing. They are gone but never forgotten. They will never foget us either.

Jules, Rachel, and Family
Ive tried posting this once, but we will try again. I know that this is a very hard time for you, and I wish I knew exactly what to say to ease your pain. I spent many nights talking to Adam and trying to understand what he was going through, however, I'm not sure that anyone could. I believe that Adam wasn't quite right since Susan passed, in fact, last time I stayed with him we stayed up laughing and crying over her. We reminisced about singing "always...

Jeff, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this most trying time. Adam knew that in the best of times and in the worst of times he always had a home to come to where his father did all things possible to be of help. I know that the strength he had he drew from you. I know that the love he felt he drew from you. I know that the fight he fought he drew from you. Just as you had an amazing son, he had an amazing father. Know that you, your strength, your courage have always...

To Adam's Family -
I do not know you and did not know your son. My son was the same age when the struggle ended for him in the same way. I just wanted to say that I so admire you for being open about his torment - my heart goes out to you and will remember you in my daily prayers.

Jeff and Rachel,

We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. We have lots of fond memories of Adam when he came to our house. Susan's passing was hard on Adam we use to talk about her with him alot. Adam could always make us laugh. We will miss him greatly. Our family will be here for you both, don't hesitate to let us know if we can be of any help. Once again our prayers are with you.

Mr. Newsome & Rachel,

I got to know Adam as a caring, intelligent, insightful, knowledgeable, thoughtful, critical, and very creative young man, you as Mr. Newsome, Adam's dad, and you Rachel, as a sister who wrote a heartwarming note to Mirna, my daughter, during Adam's and Mirna's high school senior year. No words can ease the pain and tormenting questions that may be going through your hearts and minds. However, I hope that by keeping the best memories of Adam with us all,...

To the Family of Adam,
I knew Adam through my granddaughter Katrina. My family loved him very much and always had him in our prayers. My deepest sympathy to you and I pray the Lord will be especially close to you during this difficult time.
