The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., announces with the deepest sympathy the transition of Mrs. Addie T. Reed
Addie Antionette Taylor Reed, a native of Mobile, Alabama was born to the union of Arthur C. and Maxine H. Taylor. On June 23, 2021, Addie passed away peacefully to meet her loved ones and Our Lord and Savior at the age of 94. She was the oldest of nine siblings. Preceded in death by six of her siblings, Maxine Beavers, Herbert Sr., Autherine Taylor- Hassan, Dorothea Huggins, Adolph Taylor Sr., and Charles Taylor Sr., and her husband of 59 years, Thomas N. Reed, Sr. From this union were born Mary Angela Reed Millender (Willie J.) and Thomas N. Reed, Jr. of Atlanta, GA.
Addie attended and graduated from Most Pure Heart of Mary in 1946, where she played the trombone in the Marching band. She went on to attend Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. receiving Certification in Nursing, along with a Certification as a Registered X-Ray Technician. Addie earned a certificate of Interior Design from the University of South Alabama.
She was a loving and proud Grandmother of three grandsons, Bryan (Katrina) English, Marcus English Sr., and Angelo (Jamie) English. Addie enjoyed being surrounded by her five Great Grands, Brianna, Kayla, Marcus Jr., Myles, and Angel, especially during birthdays, holidays, and Mardi Gras.
Addie was a member and founder of the Les Charmes Civic and Social Club, a member of Jolly Neighbors, and a retired member of Jack and Jill of America. Inc., where her mother was a Founding member of the Mobile Chapter. She helped host meetings with her husband, “T.N. “who was a founding member of The Comrades Social Club, a member of the Alpha Wives of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Addie was also the Archoush to Archon Thomas N. Reed Sr., a charter member of Delta Iota Boule’ of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, devoted Son-in-law, Willie J. Millender Sr., two sisters, Iona (Charles) Hargrave, and Aurelia (Leon) Chestang, Three Sister-in-laws, Ethel J. Taylor, Diane L, Taylor, and Geraldine Powell, Brother-in-law, Lawrence F. Huggins, Goddaughter, Velma Hall, Godson, Laurence Hall, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and devoted childhood friends, Mrs. Alean E. Brown and Mrs. Etheline F. Richardson.
