Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

ADAMS, Addison Hope (Addie Hope) – Of Grand Blanc, age 25, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Addie is now at home with her Lord Jesus.

A Joyful Celebration Open House will be held at our home with a memorial to be given by Pastor Lawrence Bowlin. Details will be announced at a later date.

Addie was born on October 12, 1994, in Pontiac, Michigan, and was the beloved and precious daughter of Jim and Ruth Adams and the sweet sister to Jason, Sarah, Ben, Nathan and Andrew. She found her forever family on March 15, 1995, and from that day forward, became the treasured joy of their lives.  Addie’s life was a testament of God’s pure and unfailing love. She was our sweetest teacher by daily displaying the fruits of the Spirit, as found in Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Despite her many limitations, Addie loved and enjoyed life and shared her contagious laughter, smiles and happiness with all who knew her.

Addie loved Jesus and His light shone brightly from her heart and through her life.  She loved listening to sermons by Dr. Charles Stanley. She also loved listening to Family Life Radio (99.7 FM) and to her favorite artists: Danny Gokey, Toby Mac, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mercy Me, and Big Daddy Weave.  Addie loved Peppa Pig, family gatherings, car rides, and outings.  She loved to listen to the birds and to how we would describe the beauty of God’s world. Like most girls, Addie had a wardrobe full of pretty, sparkly clothes in her favorite colors of pink and purple and she had more shoes than room to store them.  Her beautiful, long, caramel-colored hair and her silky soft, glowing complexion were always a source of admiration wherever she went.  She loved her signature Anthropologie perfume and her many fragrant lotions and creams.

Addie loved school (when she was able to attend) and was a student at Marion D. Crouse Instructional Center. There she had an awesome team including her principal, teaching, ancillary, and office staff throughout her entire school years. Addie loved every person on the GISD bus staff who transported her to and from school. During the 2016-2017 school year, Addie was a Cardinal Cheerleader and she looked amazingly cute in her cheer uniform. All who knew her there will remember Addie by her delicate, sweet countenance and joyful spirit.

We give our loving and heartfelt thanks to friends Belinda Novess, Joanne Blimka, the Kaniarz family, the Rudi family, and the Gill family, who all provided necessary support and trusted care for our sweet Addie Hope.  A loving thanks to Carol Miller, of Scissor Express, for providing many beautiful perms and hair styles to Addie throughout her life. Special thanks to Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church of Fenton, Michigan, for their constant prayers and outpouring of love; and to our dear loved ones and friends at Berean Baptist Church of Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Our hearts will be eternally grateful for the most unselfish, devoted, tender, and deeply loving care that Sarah gave to her little sister, Addie Hope.  Every night they had bedtime prayers together and often listened to a sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley. Their hearts always beat together in love and Addie left Sarah’s loving arms and went straight into the loving arms of Jesus.

Our grateful thanks to all the following: the wonderful office staff of Kamal Hasan, MD, for providing such loving and devoted care to Addie from her infancy through age 21; the committed office staff of Michigan Health Specialists with Seif Saeed, MD and Michelle Wojek, NP-C; the many specialty clinics at the University of Michigan Health System, who provided exemplary care; Danny Williams, RN, from Active Community Nursing, for his expertise, kindness, and care of Addie; Gerald Goza, RN, from McLaren Health Plan, who always helped us navigate the medical & insurance issues we encountered; Dan Oslin, Certified Orthotist, from Oakland Orthopedic Appliances, for the many pretty custom hand and ankle braces he expertly created for Addie; the caring staff at MCSI, for coordinating Addie’s respite; Stephanie Brown, from MDHHS, for coordinating our Home Help; the Rite Aid Pharmacy Staff (#4471), who always went above and beyond; and Addie’s cousin, Brian McDermott, FNP-C, for the many times he came to our home to care for our sweet girl in her hours of need.

Addie Hope leaves to cherish her sweet memory her parents, Jim and Ruth Adams, brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Celeste Adams of San Antonio, TX; sister, Sarah Adams of Grand Blanc, MI; brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin and Rachel Adams of Temple, TX; brother Nathan Adams and girlfriend, Samantha Tomasello of Flint, MI; brother, Andrew Nelson Adams of Grand Blanc, MI; nephew and nieces, Liam, Avery and Anna Adams of Temple, TX; Very special and loving uncle and aunt, Al and Sue Farber of Swartz Creek, MI; many additional aunts, uncles, and cousins. Addie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lee and Ruth Adams, Benjamin and Maxine Ruddock, and her uncle, Richard Ruddock.

“But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 19:14

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8
