CARBONDALE – Adeline Sophie Opielinski, 98, formally of Des Plaines at The Landings, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Shawnee Christian Village, Herrin.
Adeline was born October 30, 1919 in Chicago to George and Anna (Rzana) Klich.
Survivors include her daughters, Dianne L. Hannon of Carbondale and Pamela S. Blair of South Elgin; daughter-in-law, Julie B. Shroka of Grayslake; five grandchildren, Jennifer Mostyn and husband Joshua, Scott Hannon and wife Heather, Nicholas Blair and wife Valerie, Rebecca Blair, Phillip Blair and wife Dimitra; and four great-grandchildren, Avary Hannon, Jillian Blair, Lucas Blair and Addison Hannon.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Henry S. Shroka and Raymond Opielinski; daughter, Kathleen A. Shroka; son, Kenneth H. Shroka; son-in-law, Dennis R. Hannon; brothers, Walter Klich and Stanley Klich; and sisters, Virginia Parker and Evelyn Stevenson.
Adeline worked as a beautician in Skokie and then as a bookkeeper for Bell & Howell, a manufacturing company of motion picture machinery. She enjoyed embroidery and cross stitch along with reading and taking care of her plants. Adeline kept her mind sharp by playing bridge, doing puzzles and even in her 90’s she could still win at rummi-cube. First and foremost she loved spending time with her family and passing on all her family traditions to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Avenue Niles on Friday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Saturday 9:15 AM to Our Lady of Ransom Church for mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will Be at St. Adalbert Cemetery
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road; Marion, IL 62959.
