CONCORD -- Adella "Della" M.Freo, 110, died Dec. 28, 2010.

She was born Nov. 5, 1900.

Her simple life turned out to be extraordinary. The Flamand family of St. Patrice, Quebec settled on Tuttle Street in Concord in 1913. Raised with her 12 other siblings, there were always chores, farming, and school to keep her busy. There were also many years of Sunday afternoon gatherings full of laughter and cheer.

She married in her 20s, but became widowed in her 30s. A loving single mom of Richard, she worked full-time in the West Concord yarn mills to raise her son.

As a grandmother, she always ensured there were delicious home-made treats; brownies, custards, Johnny cake, root beer, and her famous pea soup.

Most recently, on Nov. 27, 2010, at her 110 multi-generational birthday celebration, more than 60 family and friends from all over New England reminisced with "Grammy" and celebrated the recent proclamation by the governor and mayor's offices as being New Hampshire's oldest female resident, providing her with a key to the city.

As the oldest Sacred Heart Parish member, she lived her faith and helped to deepen others. Her legacy of core values of faith, family, and simple pleasure will live on forever.

IN HER LIFE: Adella's grandchildren and great-grandchildren (Philip and wife Lisa, to Philip and Devin, George and June to Allison and Emily, Steve and Jo-Ann to Brian and Carly) always looked forward to her laughter and her infamous one-liners at every celebration. She never failed us! Always well intended, Grammy would say things that charmed, endeared, or sometimes slightly shocked us.

Grammy always had time for us, listened to us, and offered sage advice.

Her family would like to thank the nursing staff and all others from Harris Hill Center for the tremendous care over these last eight years.

SERVICES: Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord.

A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Waters Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Harris Hill Resident Council, 20 Maitland Street, Concord, 03301.
