Afton Ward

I am sorry I am unable to attend the funeral of your mother. She was such an influence on my life. She taught me in 4-H as well in church classes. She made the beautiful burial dress for our little 22 month old daughter, Wendy Lee, in 1961 and I am eternally grateful to her for that. She was so generous with her time and many talents. I walked the 1/4 mile to your house to play many many times and I always enjoyed visiting with your grandma, Aunt Nell, as we called her.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. It's never easy letting go of a loved one but I hope you take comfort in the knowledge that they are never far away... their memories and the love you have for them are always in your heart.

Our mothers are reunited again! Mom considered Afton another sister and loved her very much. I think of her every time I attend the temple because I'm still using the temple clothes she sewed for me 36 years ago. Mom was so pleased that Afton would make the clothes for me - I think she felt like she had a small part in my wedding that she couldn't attend because her dear friend had made the clothing.

My mother, Carol Chester Furniss was Afton's room mate in college. Afton remained a dear and cherished friend for the rest of her life. Please accept my sincere sympathies at her passing.
