What a wonderful person your Mom was and it shows in the rest of her family.
I wish I had been lucky enough to know her! God's Blessings on her family!

I was saddened to hear of Afton Ward's passing. She was a wonderful example of a beautiful mother and friend. She was always kind when I would come to visit with my parents, Ladd and Gerry Simons. My love and prayers go out to Afton's family.

We are saddened to hear of the death of Afton Ward. She was an instrumental part of organizing the Daughters of Utah Pioneers group here in Houston. She was a faithful member who attended the meetings and helped the group along. She was proud of her Mormon pioneer heritage. We missed her when she moved to Austin. Her memories will be with us in the
RSVP Camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers

I had the joy of meeting Afton Ward several times during the past year and will always remember Afton for her wonderful family, her loving support of all those around her, the daughters she inspired, family, and Afton's enduring positive outlook on life and living.

I remember Mom teaching me to bake bread, but I was about six and confused Tblsp and tsp. When I added 3 big T's of salt, Mom took it in stride. We just added more of everything else and made bread and rolls and a fried bread we called scones. I was very proud of my output!

Afton was my grandmother and a wonderful caring woman. Her home in Houston was the place for gathering all the grandchildren. There we would bake everything - cakes, pies, cookies - you name it. My favorite memories are of the family singing Christmas carols around the organ.

Being Afton's next door neighbor we wlked home to lunch almost every day during her senior year in high school. We became good friends and pals during our high school years. She was a choice friend.
