Agnes was a nursing leader in every sense of the word. I am proud to have known her and to have had the opportunity to have worked with her over the years. I have very fond memories of providing some computer tutoring and helping her with the newsletter for the Flight Nurses Association! Agnes, you will be missed! My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

Oh, how I wish I could have known this wonderful lady who made such a difference in the lives of others over the years. I retired as an AF Nursing in 1995. For three of those years, I was a flight nurse out of Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. I would have enjoyed sitting for hours and hearing Ms. Flaherty's stories of her time as a flight nurse, as well as other memories of her impressive nursing career. Please know that my heart and my sympathy go out to you during this time of loss.

It was our pleasure and priviledge to be neighbors of Agnes in Saco. She was an accomplished, kind lady in so many ways. When our children were young, they loved taking Agnes' little dog "Mamie" for walks in the neighborhood. Agnes always had a little treat or "surprise" for them. They adored her sweet, smiling face and her soft, patient voice. We had many conversations while she was raking her lawn or meeting at the mailbox as she rushed in from one project to another. She did so much...

Agnes Flaherty was a giant in the Nursing community in Maine for many years. She also was very well respected on the National nursing scene. Her leadership skills, ethics, and commitment to nursing were exemplary and will be greatly missed.

To the Family of Agnes E. Flaherty, I met Agnes years ago with the WWII FN Association which my Mother is President, Agnes was such a pleasure to know and be known by her. We spent a wonderful weekend in Washington DC in 2005 where she recorded one of her many military stories of WWII. If possible could the family contact me so I can mail info to them. I also write the Newsletter that she enjoyed reading from the WWII FNurses.

Please accept my sympathy. I knew Agnes from Altrusa and from my mother. My mother, a nurse, often spoke warmly of "Miss Flaherty" when they worked together at MMC. I got to know her from Altrusa. Agnes was a mentor to many. She was a great lady and will be missed.
