Agnes "Aggie" Gilbert

Aggie was one of Newark's "Treasures", both professionally in the store and in her wide circle of friends. She helped me immensely with appraisals and advice in my antique business. Agnes & Frank Gilbert were wonderful people. My husband Lee and I were fortunate to enter their Jewelry store in Newark, N.Y. some 50 years ago. We wanted to buy an engagement ring which we did for the total amount of $75.00. The Gilbert's let us put the ring on layaway until it was paid for. Many times over the years Aggie would say just take the ring or watch, etc home and see how you like it and then we will work out some terms. They were a rare wonderful couple and now they are joined...
