Spinelli - Ricciuti Funeral Home - Ansonia Obituary

Agostino Borgesano, age 81, of Ansonia passed away on March 20, 2026.  For 22 years, he was the loving husband of the late Joanne Smith Borgesano.  Agostino was born in Collesano, Sicily, the son of the late Frank Sr. and Rose Filippone Borgesano.

Gus was proud of his Italian heritage.  He served his country proudly in the US Air Force.  He had a passion for the things that brought joy and connection, he was an enthusiastic fan of Elvis, loved singing karaoke, and had a special appreciation for classic cars. In his later years, Gus found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially enjoying a good Boston cream donut. Prior to his retirement, Gus enjoyed his career working as a custodian for the Ansonia Board of Education.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Marie Borgesano of Ansonia, his stepdaughters, Melissa (Jason) Swan of Oxford and Kristen (Enrique Acevedo Jr.) Boroski of Milford, his granddaughters, Avery and Kaelyn Swan, his niece Michelle Russell, his nephews, John (Lynn) Borgesano and Michael (Renee) Borgesano, his great nieces, Shannon, Hailie, and Alexis Russell, as well as his brothers-in-law David Smith of FL and Richard (Anna) Smith of Seymour, and his sister-in-law Carolyn (Deacon Robert) Johnson of Ansonia. Gus was predeceased by his brothers Pasquale (Maryanne) Borgesano and Frank Borgesano Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday March 26th, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday morning, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church, 61 N Cliff St, Ansonia, at 10am.  Interment, with military honors, will follow in Mt St. Peters Cemetery, Derby.

Not sure what to say?

Dad, I still can't believe you are gone. I will always love you and miss you more than you will ever know. Love you always and forever you will always be in my heart for everything you always taught me and just for being my Dad.

Lisa, sorry about the passing of your father. Gus was a good guy.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
