Our beloved mother and grandmother Aino passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024 in Sebastopol, California at age 92. She is survived by her son Gregory Burns and wife Jaleh; daughter Christina Camara and husband Luis; grandchildren Roshan, Seena, Christian, Ashley and Luis; and great-granddaughter Sierra. Aino was born on December 1st, 1931 in Stockholm, Sweden. She was raised in Norra Ängby by her parents Nils and Anna Höglund; where she attended school along with her sister, Evy. After graduating from college, Aino emigrated to the United States in 1956 to live with relatives in New York State. She enjoyed travel and moved west to California, where she met her future husband, Gordon Burns, in Los Angeles. The family moved to the Bay Area, where they had two children and eventually settled in Sebastopol by 1970. Aino loved crafts and gardening, was an avid reader, enjoyed volunteering at the library, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
No formal service will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 21st at 3:30 p.m. at The Wild Poppy Cafe, 9890 Bodega Hwy, Sebastopol. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sonoma County Public Library Foundation.
