The Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon, handling arrangements. Alan Andringa was born on July 29, 1951, in Sanborn, Iowa. He was the son of Charles and Mina (Veenstra) Andringa. He lived his youth in Sanborn, where he attended and graduated from Sanborn Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa. Alan attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa, where he graduated with a Technology Degree. He was united in marriage to Gail Van Engen of Doon, Iowa, on March 26, 1971, in Doon. They lived in Sheldon, Iowa, where Alan worked at C & H Supply and later bought his father's shares in C & H Supply upon his father's retirement. He was a member of Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa, where he served as chairman of the elders. Alan's family was a major part of his life. He enjoyed fishing with them. To say that Alan cherished his family is to only begin to understand the depth of his love for them. An avid fan of his grandchildren, he was often heard recounting humorous tales of their adventures together, boasting of their accomplishments and generally admiring their presence in his life. He loved his wife and his children. Alan's love for the church and his service to it was second only to his heart toward his family. His years of owning and operating C & H Supply were, for him, a dream realized. Alan's life was filled with love and blessings. He passed away on Monday, February 20, 2006, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Gail Andringa of Sheldon, Iowa; his children and grandchildren: Cherie and Steve Bootsma and their children: Taylor, Brady, Nakama, Felicity, and Dalton of Sanborn, Iowa; Shawn and Stacy Andringa and their children: Halle, Morgan, and Riely of Sanborn, Iowa; Sara and Steve Runner of Wheaton, Illinois; his parents: Charles and Mina Andringa of Sanborn, Iowa; one sister: Sheila (Tim) Cross of Sheraton, Iowa, and many friends and relatives.
