Alan S. Becker

Alan walked his talk. I was the first Black lawyer hired by the Firm, but more significantly, I was not the last.
May his memory be a blessing.

The world has lost one of its most humble and righteous persons, Alan Becker. Alan has been my friend for 70 years. We met in the fourth grade. This was the beginning of a lifelong relationship. Alan was the best friend anyone can have. He was always there when I needed him for advice and always volunteered to help me without me having to ask. His reputation for honesty and integrity with anyone...

I knew Alan many years ago through his lifelong friend, Howie. At ages 12-13, Howie, Alan , my best friend and I took a few dancing lessons in a studio above some stores in Bensonhurst. I guess our parents wanted to prepare us for the upcoming Bar Mitzvahs. So long ago, but such a happy memory.

My heartfelt condolences to all Alan's loved ones. I hope you will take comfort in a life so very well-lived.

Back in July 1980, I joined the then firm of Becker, Poliakoff & Streitfeld in their legal department. This was a time when the firm specialized in condominium law. Most cases were in regard to condominium and association law.
