ALAN S. BERGMAN

Alan was "responsible" for the best spontaneous one-liner I ever heard: back around the mid 1970's when I was still a law-clerk (and not yet admitted to the bar), my then boss shared office space with Alan. My desk was in the secretarial "bull pen." A hot summer day, the power went out - everything dark, and then almost immediately the power came back on. Alan came out of his private office into the bull-pen, snapped his finger and said, "damn, the governor's pardon didn't come thru..." and...

A friend and fellow sideman since our late teens, Al gave me my first professional music gigs. We shared many good times and laughs. Always in my thoughts.

With fond memories of many wonderful Cape Cod summers.

A valuable member of our artistic community will be missed.

His scholarly approach in answering inquiries that were sorely needed by many of us will not be replaced by lesser!!!

40 years on by now and Alan remains the "author" of one of the best/quickest one-liner comment I ever heard. he and his gentle dry wit will be sorely missed
