Read MoreI was a good friend of Alan during our years in college at the University of Illinois. We lived down the hall from each other in the residence halls. I knew his wife Phyllis who was also attending the U of I at that time. We were in Army ROTC together and went to the military ball at the student union together. Last saw Al and Phyllis in Chicago in the early 80s. I'll remember him and his great sense of humor fondly,
