Durham was both book smart and street smart. I was a nerdy kid when he took under his wing. He was an natural at working to solve problems and put his ideas into practice. In the early 80's Durham owned a classic black Volvo that he had shipped over to Panama, while stationed there. He spent hours every other weekend detailing the golden leather interior, cleaning the chrome rims, and buffing the gloss of the outside until it glistened. Difficult to say a word about Durham without talking about myself. There is no other man outside of Jesus who is more responsible for making me the quality of man that I have become. With me that says a lot because I had a father that cared about us kids and I worked in the medical field all my life. Alan, its hard to believe that you are gone. I will always treasure the good times, kind words of wisdom and knowledge you imparted years ago . You had a way of speaking hope & faith prophetically.
