The reality that he is gone is still incomprehensible, but the volumes of vivid memories makes it feel like he is still with us. Alan and I lived three houses apart for many years during our youth and in later years rekindled a friendship that cannot be measured. His stories, humor, caring, and profound savvy about almost everything led to wonderful conversations on a weekly basis.
