Dear Kate, Alex, and other family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Alan at L.R. Green school, and his intelligence and warmth were immediately apparent. I think he was holding a copy of the NY Times. I later learned that he was a writer, and had the pleasure to read some of his work.

Alan was a wonderful, kind friend of animals - and animals need all the friends they can get. Everyone at PETA sends their condolences and wishes for strength to Kate and the rest of Alan's friends and family.

Kate, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear husband. Your memories of him will last forever and he will remain in your heart always.....

My condolences to Kate, Greg, Alex, and all family members of my Uncle Alan. There will never be another Alan. He was one-of-a-kind and very much loved, and he will be missed.
