Not sure what to say?

On July 29, 2015, I was just writing to my colleague Ed Madara what immense impact Alan Gartner and Frank Riessman had in the 1970s, creating the global self-help movement. Of course Alan has done SO much more--a man combining such great talent, commitment, vision. What a life well-lived.

Ms. Dorothy May God give you the strength to able to get through thfis trying time, you're not alone
May the support of family and friends be of comfort for you all.

Alan was first of all a gentleman, then a scholar, then a humorist, and then a policy wonk. He had the ability to see humor in people and situations even while dealing with important and serious subjects. It was fun to work with him. And he had a great smile that will remain in our memories.

He was fun to work with and he had the great ability to see humor, apply it to himself (and others) all while dealing with really important and serious work. It was a pleasure to know him and to work with him. And he had a great smile that will remain.
