I was sad to hear about the passing of Alan. I worked with him at NASA for about 5 years before he retired. He had a significant impact on the Agency's EAP and was respected by many. His love of orchids and shells was known by all who knew him and his having a shell named after him I'm guessing was probably one of his big accomplishments.
