Not sure what to say?

I'm sending sincere condolences to Alan's family. We grew up together in Ann Arbor, MI. During high school, we were in a string quartet together in which I played second violin and he played his viola. We got a level one award at the state level solo and ensemble where we performed a movement from a Shostakovich string quartet. Alan was a great guy and I am sure he will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Alan's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, at St. Marks Church, 131 E. 10th St. New York, from 1-3.

I danced with Alan at U of M and reconnected when he toured in India where I made my career in classical Indian dance. He was such a dear soul. May his memory be a blessing for all.

Alan was more than a cousin. He was a friend. I got to know him around 2000, and after that I always had lunch or dinner with him on my various trips to New York. My memories of those dinners are still fresh. He was bright, articulate and a great conversationalist. It's hard to believe that he is gone. Much too soon.

Au revoir mon ami. I miss you and ... Will never forget you.

My sincere sympathy and condolences to Linda and Alan's family and friends. I was privileged to meet Alan through our mutual friends Arnold Stern and Roeli van Zanten. Alan and my husband Evan often joked that they were in the select club of people with four-letter first and last names. They shared a love of the arts and a passion and curiosity for knowledge. I feel blessed to have met Alan on numerous occasions over many years. The impression made by his exquisite sensitivity and deep...

Ah, Alan. So sad that you're not here with us anymore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I met Alan at Pioneer but got to know him much better at UM, sharing a sketchy apartment on Elm Street with him and other good friends one year. We stayed in touch off and on over the decades and I think it was his launching of Henge that really drew us back together. We'd visit him in NYC, sometimes staying at his place on Stuyvesant, and tour ping-pong joints in the city along with the cultural side trips he'd...
