Alan... and his father Lou created a wonderful dining destination where it was fun to be seen and even more fun to partake of the delicacies that made Lou & Hy's famous.

I'm saddened and mournful that Alan Kay has passed away. I feel that I can truly say that he was a dear friend of mine. I got to know Alan close to 10 years ago at the Akron General Health and Wellness Center, at a little table in the Subway dining area, where a group of us met, and still meet, almost daily for fellowship, (our inside joke name). Together, we are a unique group that has formed a strong kinship. Upon meeting Alan, I knew him only as the guy who owned the acclaimed Lou and Hy's...

Those were the days when restaurant food was AWESOME! Their corned beef sandwiches were over the moon!
Matzo ball soup was authentic and delicious, cheesecake was the greatest. I miss those days of eating out there and was never disappointed. Alan Kay operated one of the best eateries Akron ever had!
