I think that I knew Al for a shorter time than anyone else at his memorial, but he left an indelible mark on my life. In the short amount of time we've known each other, he took a big chance and stuck his neck out for me by bringing me into his department and out of a dead end job I was stuck in at the time, even though he didn't know me from Adam then. He asked me to play golf on his foursome in a corporate tournament even though he knew I didn't know how to play at the time. To teach me how...
