While in NZ several years back, I read the biography of the famous writer Janet Frame. She grew up dirt poor, near Dunedin, but at some point made her way to London, England, in a miserable state, in search of psychiatric help. As a member of Albany Medical College´s Class of 1981, I started the same year as Dr. Miller. It was Dr. Miller that introduced me, along with other students, to chamber music, inviting us to his home on weekends and encouraging us to pursue music, despite the demanding curriculum of medical school.
