Aunt Josie I want to thank you for being so wonderful. You and uncle Alan excepted me as a niece without any reserves. I felt your love from day one. My only memory that I have is the day Uncle Alan gave James his beautiful wedding ring, one that he made. James and I were both overjoyed with your love and excellent gift. How deeply sorry I am. I have been far removed from the family over the years, but all of my memories of Uncle Alan are fond ones of joy and laughter. My condolences and empathy go out to all of you in this difficult time.

I wish that my poor words were sufficient to express my sorrow for your loss. My heart aches for Uncle Al and what you must be going through. Over the years, I've been far removed from the family here in Virginia, but I still have clear memories of time spent with Uncle Al. I'm so grateful for the short time that I was able to visit with all of you just weeks ago--I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to speak to, feel, and see my Uncle Al one last time....

It is with great sorrow that I learn of the passing of our beloved Al. Allow me to express my gratitude for all that you have done to make me part of your family. Al was my respected ‘rival’ and there is nothing that I couldn’t discuss with him which was very important to me. He was always there to lend a helping hand and I felt that he genuinely cared. For that I’ll be eternally grateful.
