Not sure what to say?

My condolences to Al's family. I was a student manager on the RHS baseball team for two years and watched Al's excellence as a pitcher. He was a tremendous athlete, team mate, and human being. I've thought about Al of and on over the years; however, I never saw him after high school. I was saddened to learn of his passing. We have lost a great person who was a credit to his family, community, and his fellow man. God is holding Al in his loving arms.

Al was person who gave back much more than he took. A mentor and role modle to many.

I was saddened to hear of Al's passing. I knew Al from our late elementary days through high school and was always honored to call him my friend. He was an great athlete but what I remember most was his kindness and gentleness. Even with all his athletic achievements he always remained grounded and represented his school and teammates well. As a person, I respected Al a great deal. He was a man of dignity.

Al was a foster brother. Mrs. Liza Nunn "Granny", a widow, opened her home and her heart to several foster children, a day care service, and she was well loved by many including Al.
Al was one of her favorites, possibly the favorite. His athletic achievements, zest for life and leadership abilities placed him in a unique category.
I know that Al will be missed and held high in our regard for all time.

Al was an awesome boss. I had the priviledge of working with him at the pool for a couple summers after high school. He was always encouraging and easy going. After being away for a couple summers, he encouraged me to come back and work for him again. What a joy it was to have a boss like that. He will be missed by many. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Al was a fantastic boss and genuniely nice person. I called him up 5 years after I stopped working at the pool and the guy remembered who I was, where I'd gone to school after working for him, and which of the guards on staff I was the closest friends with. It was like we'd just talked the day before. When you talked with Al about that sort of thing, he listened and he cared. There aren't a lot of folks that care that much about what a group of high school lifeguards once said 5 years...

I'll miss you Al. You were a great help in running and organizing tournaments. Richfield has one of the best arenas in the state and that is a direct reflection on the work you did. Your staff was always the greatest, too.

Words cannot express the feelings that our family has been feeling since we heard about Al's passing. My wife and I have know Al since the early 90's. He was not only a boss, but a mentor. I just wish I would have taken him up more on his offers to go out after hockey games and big arena events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bonnie and Reagan.

To the family of Alan Payne,

Please accept our sympathy for your loss. It was an honor to be with Alan during his final days. Our hearts go out to you at this time and in the days ahead. May your memories bring you comfort.

Sincerely,

The Fairview Hospice Team
