Not sure what to say?

Dr. Richey was an terrific doctor and exceptional diagnostician. I was disappointed when he retired because it's difficult to find such a treasure. I am saddened to know of his loss. Rest in Peace...you are missed.

Dr Richey was the most professional and thorough doctor that I have ever had. I do not believe I will find another like him. Even when it was evident that he was ill himself he continued to be a consummate physician. My deepest sympathy to his family. Patricia Robinson

So, so sorry to just learn of Al's passing. He was our internist for more than 30 years. Such a kind and caring physician and friend. We will miss him greatly. Paul and Vicky Jordan, Alexandria.

I worked with Dr Richey at Inova for 3 years. He was always nice and caring as a coworker and also my physician. He had a passion for people and their health and well being. Dr. Richey was the one that found my tumor and thanks to him and his research he was able to treat me without surgery. Rest peacefully Dr. Richey.

I feel a deep loss with the passing of my friend Al Richey. I first met Al at medical school and we were roommates. I can still remember as if it were yesterday; Al with his yellow backpack and his infectious smile and spending long hours together studying. Al was a generous, loyal, modest, respected, and humorous friend. He had a calming affect on those around him, and especially myself. One of the most memorable and enjoyable evenings I´ve ever spent in my life was Christmas at the Richey...

So sad to hear of your loss and our loss to the medical community. He was a dedicated and caring physician. He treated his patients like they were his own family. I will miss his phone calls to go over findings on radiologic cases so he could make the best decisions. We all respected him so much. Dr Deborah Blair

Such a wonderful wonderful man. A terrible lost. Kind, compassionate, smart and caring. A loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and doctor. An excellent cook and fisherman. It was always a joy to be with him. He was such a positive example as to how to live a full life even while fighting a terrible disease. We love you Al and will miss you immensely. Tom, Lisa and John Lizzo

Single Memorial Tree

Al has been my great friend for more than forty years. Kind, honest, compassionate, smart, brave and funny. I felt at home every minute I spent with him. Jeannie and Greer, you supported him in his battle every day and because of you he could be at home in peace. RIP, my dear friend!
