I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Alan Shaw. As CEO of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons at the time he served as President, I can attest to his fine leadership of the College and dedication to his profession. It was indeed a privilege to serve with him during this time of transition and expansion for the College as members chose to add the name "and Ankle Surgeons." My sympathies to Alan's family at this sad time. He will be missed.

We will surely miss our friend, Allan. A true gentleman who knew how to get things done. Loved his family, dog, and was a `Bama boy to the core. And, he knew how to cook soft shell crab! He has left a hole in our hearts. RIP

Alan and became friends in podiatry school in San Francisco and continued into our residency program at highland general hospital in Oakland California. We served on many national committees together; however Alan´s most influential gift was he taught the art and meditation of fly fishing. 26 or 27 years ago he invited me to join him on the Bighorn River where I went back at least once a year.
