Alan and became friends in podiatry school in San Francisco and continued into our residency program at highland general hospital in Oakland California. We served on many national committees together; however Alan´s most influential gift was he taught the art and meditation of fly fishing. 26 or 27 years ago he invited me to join him on the Bighorn River where I went back at least once a year.
