Al was a great mentor as a football official. He showed me what it was to be professional and, moreover, how to deal with other officials who were not. I truly enjoyed working with him and on occasion socialize with him. Al was a fine man and roll model. I am sorry and sad that I can not pay my respects to his family in person.
