We have many fond memories with Alan. He was always a good sport, even wearing costumes to my Halloween parties. We will miss him. Our sincere condolences to his family.

Alan and I and 2 others started a discussion group where the rules were no anger or no personal attacks. Any subject was fair game. We were alsoi in a book club together. Alan was always well informed and upgraded our discussions. He will be missed. Jim Holt

Alan was a friend and an inspiration. I worked with him first on his space settlement initiative and later on his folk music website, over the course of many years. He was a brilliant and kind man, and a true visionary who lived a long and accomplished life. I think about Alan often. He will be greatly missed. (Space, of course, was one of his passions. Attached is a photo of him on a weightless parabolic flight.)
