ALAN H. WILDE M.D.

Alan Wilde performed a bilateral knee surgery on me in 1999 and 25 years later one of the knee implants is still operational. The other was revised in 2003. The surgery he performed gave me a new lease on life and I am eternally grateful. Knee replacement surgery in 1999 was pioneering and Alan was a true pioneer- the best of the best. We are deeply saddened for your loss. My parents and I met Dr. Wilde in 1967, when I was seven years old. I remember Dr. Wilde making rounds on Sunday mornings, dressed not in his white coat but in a fine dress suit. Dear Merry: Sara and I were out of town when a friend called to tell us of Alan's death. We were so saddened. He was such a wonderful doctor and friend. He and I had a great time with our similar names at Lutheran...he was Wilde and I was Wilder!

I am sorry to read of your great loss. I knew Dr. Wilde through my work with the Orthopaedic Research & Education Society when I lived in Park Ridge, Illinois. My dearest friend Marquerite Smith (Medina) was a patient of his and thought he was the best too! Small world we live in.
