I often think about Mr. Zell. His vision and achievements are numerous and to this day what we discussed at SCORE has come to being. For Mr. Zell's family, all the best.

Alan was my friend and mentor, for just short of 10 years, as the store Visual Merchandising manager. Always encouraging, always full of ideas and best of all, a cheerful disposition. I have thought of him, and his advise throughout the length and breadth of my own career. Its only recently upon my return from lengthy absence of living in South America that I've heard of his passing, and will miss the occasional chat very much.

I was so sorry to read that Alan had died. It brought back many pleasant memories.

I was a classmate of his cousin, Susan. I watched "Uncle" Harry "rack-on" at the P.I., bought gifts from Alan at Zell Brothers, and finally ''caught up' with him in age, if not in stature. While he was volunteering at SCORE, Alan and I spent quite a few hours together, while working on my project. He was a very thoughtful and patient man, who helped guide me and the Portland area. He touched many lives. I will miss him.

It was a pleasure to know Mr. Zell through his participation with the Oregon Small Business Fair. His seminars were always well-received. I always enjoyed greeting him and having a chat at each event. An elegant, kind, intelligent man. My heart goes out to the family, in particular his wife - I was widowed 18 months ago so I know that unique type of loss. He is with God. Bless the family.

The younger Zells will not remember me, but the Zell family, to whom I extend condolences, and mine were friends going back many decades. I had not been in touch with Alan recently but remember him well. I had the pleasure of attending one of his seminars.
