As a young person interested in local government (starting out in the 70s), I was very fortunate to have people like Al McArthur whose integrity, lack of ego and commitment to helping others provided a role model for those in the public service arena.
From my early years as an intern to later position as department head, Al McArthur always personified the best, offering warm, authentic support to all colleagues.
He was clearly in this world for all the right reasons...
