Albert A. (Bert) Lovell, Jr., born November 16, 1944, in Vicksburg, MS, passed away at University New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM, on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Bert's death was a result of a severe brain injury from a bicycle accident. Albert was a graduate of Louisiana State University in 1967 and was a longtime Tigers fan. He married Evelyn Smith in Nov. 1962 at the First United Methodist Church, Smackover, AR. They were parents to two sons, Robert Alan and Michael Ivan, and grandparents to three granddaughters, Laura, Emma, and Abbey. The family lived in Smackover for about 20 years and then moved to Marion, LA for another 25 years.
Bert spent many years enjoying his hobby of raising cattle and spending time with his boys as they pursued his hobby. He and Evelyn also loved to travel the country in one of their many RVs. In late 2018, they pursued their dream of fulltime RV living and established a home base at Florida Grande in Webster, FL, in early 2021, the first of Bert's happy places. They also spent a lot of time in Branson, MO, and Eagle Nest/Angel Fire, NM, his other two happy places.
Albert was a Registered Civil/Structural and Environmental Engineer in multiple states and provided design and/or project management services in those. While living in Smackover, AR and working with a group of mining engineers from Germany, he developed a unique computer software package to model and design coal mining facilities utilizing bucket wheel excavators in the US and several foreign countries.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents and beloved grandparents, Oscar and Irene Powers of Utica, MS. He is survived by his spouse of almost 60 years, Evelyn, and sons, Robert and Michael. Robert and Dawn have two daughters, Laura and Emma and live in West Monroe, LA. Michael, Abbey and Andi residents of Arab, AL, with Abbey being a recent graduate of Smackover High School. Albert was blessed to have a group of special RVing friends and many business associates from around the country. He was a perfectionist and a passionate engineer who trained and challenged a number of young engineers.

Evelyn, Robert, Michael, and the entire Lovell family: I was terribly saddened reading the passing of my long-time friend and associate, “Bert.” By his very presence, he left you with many “great” memories; I know they will help you through this difficult period and that they will remain with you forever.
