I was very sad to hear that Al passed away last year. I am one of his Canadian cousins, living in Vancouver, BC. Al and I saw more of each other in the early years of our lives. In recent times, we would see each other from time to time at my mothers home in Chatham Ontario. I always enjoyed our time together. After her passing in 2019, we lost touch. Al and I are both named after our opa, Albert Bouw. My heartfelt and belated condolences to all of Al's family.

My heart breaks for the Bouw family. I knew Al through Matt and Emily and had the pleasure of his company before covid hit. He was a funny man who raised some great men. I´m saddened to hear of this and will be thinking of the family.

I have vivid memories of Al and I playing Boggle when I was just a little girl. He was a tough opponent and never took it easy on me! It was so much fun! When Al moved into Whispering Springs he joined our family´s weekly Sunday morning coffee sessions. My kids had the pleasure of getting to know him and I got to reconnect and get to know him again. He will be missed!

I had the privilige to take care of your Dad at Dr Sarah Palmer office. He was a "get it done" kinda guy. Over time we did have some good chats and even some laughs. The last time he was in, he was not his normal self. He was tired, couldn't get back on top of it, he said. I shall missing seeing him. And yes, he always had on something U of M! Go Blue! Praying for peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.

Al came to work for me as the first ever Controller for the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. The YMCA needed someone with Al's skill sets as we were growing rapidly. Al proved to be the right man for the job. Al was a key contributor to our continuing growth. Unfortunately the Y also experienced some very extreme economic times during his tenure and Al experienced a heart attack. I remember he was given very little odds of survival, but Al courageously beat those odds. However he retired from...
