Pappaw was a great man that would always put others first. He would often tell me of the time that he took me to my first University of Tennessee Basketball game. I was about 4 years old at the time and he could tell that I was bored during the first half. He asked if I wanted to go home, I nodded yes and he took me home. Albert Daugherty was someone very special to Grainger Co., especially to my family. He and Bill were big fishing buddies and shared many meals prepared with the help of Faye. The months before Bill passed when we traveled up Hwy. 11W, he would talk about their days on the lake with their friends. Faye, Al Jr., Sandy and Vickie & families were one of the first families we met when we came to Grainger, and remain very special to my entire family. May God comfort each one, as only He can do!

Albert, had a great warm laugh and enjoyed getting a laugh on someone else. My first weeks in Grainger County, as the new Extension Home Agent, he would take me thoughout the county showing me where people lived and introducing me. The first community club meeting that I attended at Indian Ridge he introduced me and said that I was as country as a hog!
