Not sure what to say?

Penni- My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember your father coming to Phx Xian HS to watch our feeble attempt at his wonderful musical (Plenty of Money?) and he was so kind and generous with his comments when I think he may have been truly horrified at our attempts.
He was a very kind man.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It's with the greatest of sympathy that I write today. Al(Ollie) Davis to us 50's band members of Glendale High School, was an inspiration musically and spiritually. It is through him that we learned to appriciate music. He always wanted to show the talent he created by perfomances by the Bands he directed. And why not. He was the greatest He will be missed so much.
My deepest sympathy to the Davis Family.

Al Davis was one of the most prolific composers in our day. He taught me things I will use for life and his generousity and friendship I will never forget. I would like to record a CD of his music, "Portrait of Al Davis" in tribute to what he has done for all of us. Al not only had a great family at home but has a musical family around the world in which he loved to write for. God Bless all of them.

Cindy, our prayers are with you. Your dad was a fabulous man. His wit and humor made my days at PC a little brighter. Bill, Becky, Bailey, The Ajo Neds.

Long before I knew the meaning of the word "Mentor", Uncle Ollie was a mentor to me at North Phoenix High School.

He has always been and always will be my favorite teacher. He was always there with a smile & a story. Jokes so corny that today the kids wouldn't even laugh. But they always made me smile.

Al Davis will always be remembered for two things in my family:
1. The Al Davis Fight Song that we all played as members of the ASU Sun Devil Marching Band
2. Desert Star-this beautiful trombone solo number was one of Davis' first ever to be published and my father premiered it.
A recording exists in our family library.

As an alum of the ASU band, I had the privilege of playing the Al Davis Fight Song many times. Thank you for your spirit.

We have admired Al for many years and consider him a friend who had fellowship with Christ and music. If God needs a composer and arranger, Al will be a natural for that position. Bob & Shirley Young

Penni, our condolences to you and your family.
