Not sure what to say?

I worked there during 1957 & 58. It was the most fun job I ever had. The Doumars were a wonderful family. Their cashier at that time was Betty Capone. She was wonderful also. Rest in peace Al

Really miss you "Big Al" and the conversations we had when I came to Doumars to have lunch; just love the BBQ! I really appreciate all the years you put up with me and my friends from the time we were teenagers up to the present. RIP and educate the Lord as to the great cones your relatives invented.

Mr Doumar will be missed. There's a new "star" in the heavens now.

The family and employees are keeping a treasure of tradition alive and well at the drive-in.

Our best to all, from 2 fans here in Hampton. And again, our deepest sympathy to the family.

Big Al, I'm going to miss you and your words of wit and for putting up with me as a teenager. I began visiting Doumars some 50+ years ago and had many delightful visits to your place. Love your cones and barbeque! Thanks!

To the family and many friends of Mr. Doumar: My deepest condolences. My prayers and thoughts are with you during this time of loss. Thank you Mr. Doumar for all you did. And a "special" thank you for those delightful and tasty waffle cones!! :)

All communities endure change - good and bad - and how those institutions that constitute the backbone of a community endure over time marks their greatness. Our churches, temples, schools and courts (thank you Judge Doumar!) are our bedrock but in Norfolk there is no doubt that Doumar's may very well trump them all. The aura of kindness and grace that permeates that restaurant is due to what Albert Doumar and his family have wrought over those generations and will continue on with this...

Limeaide and bbq. Thanks for all you have done in Norfolk Va. You will be missed

The Norfolk and local Lebanese family have lost another Larger-than-life member! We are certainly sorry to see Al go, but one can only imagine the laughter in heaven right now with all of those fellow Giants of Norfolk finally back together. We are all better for having been touched by your grace, strength and ever present smile. How gracious you were, when I had a table full of kids one day, to tell them you have a photo of my grandfather on your mantle--not to impress, but to share the...

My sincere condolences to the Doumar family. What a treasure Albert was to all of us. I have many fond memories of going to Doumars as a child and grew up hearing daily stories about Mr. George and Mr. John. In fact, when I was about 5 Mr. George threatened to cut my hair. I was horrified and didn't realize he was, of course, teasing. My mother always spoke highly of the two of them and they were like family to her. I vaguely remember Victor (my Mom was close to him) and I took my mother...
