Not sure what to say?

The year is 2024 and I´m sure no one will ever see this. In the late 70s I was a very troubled young man. In an attempt to turn me around my parents enrolled me in Maumee Valley country Day school. I am now nearly 60 years old and reflecting on my life. When I think of my early childhood, there are very few adults outside of my family whom I remember fondly. Over the couple of years that I knew him, Albert had a very positive effect on my life. So much so that I remember him to this day, and...

Mr. Getman sharing the fireplace with Herman, always teaching. We left the gym walked into the kitchen and watched a spacewalk from early NASA days. He had me help with picking up desks and chairs from out near Canal Fulton, drafted Jeff Fisher and myself to paint the locker rooms. always teaching what great memories .

To all the Getmans and their families, I only know Bill and his family but knowing Bill is to know that all the Getmans are special souls. I truly am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Albert. Bill, I wish I could give you and yours a big hug in person but suffice to say, I am sending one from afar. Please take care of each other during this challenging time. All my best,
Skippy

Dear Connie, Judy, Margo and Bill,
My heart felt sympathy goes out to all of you, your family and friends. I am finding it very hard to accept Albert's leaving us. He certainly deserves to have the rest and peace that I'm sure he is experiencing. He was a powerful and loving mentor to me and always encouraged me to find and develop new ways to engage middle school students. His vision became my lifetime goal as a teacher and lifetime learner. Albert honored me when he hired me in 1964 to...

I met Al and Connie nine years ago when I had the pleasure of sitting with them at an event celebrating the establishment of an endowed scholarship in honor of Thomas “Doc” Hoover, another significant force in the formative years of Canton Country Day School.

I was new to Canton and to CCDS when I met Al. I considered myself fortunate to be able to speak with the experienced, “founding” head of the school I was about to lead. We chatted that evening about his early days at Country...

I remember Al taking me to Jackson High School to enroll in ninth grade, and we stoped at Bender's for lunch on the way back to CCDS. There was a snow storm in November 1969 when he asked me to help plant two trees on the north side of the New School I think that they are still there. He coached the soccer team that played on a mud and snow covered field at Hawkin in nov. 1966. We learned to raise and retire the flag on the front lawn of the Old School, and how to fold it. Memories that...

Al used to walk me to school. We lived nearby before CCDS moved. I'd stop by the house and we'd all go together. I will always remember his kindness. Condolences to all, thanks for sharing him!

I have very fond memories of Al Getman as a warm and inspiring headmaster who everyone respected. The whole Getman family was always so much fun to be around and Al was a great inspiration. Fond regards and condolences to all.

I remember Al Getman as an authoritative, but fair minded leader, who exuded confidence and progress. At CCDS he believed in us and we believed in him. We will miss you Al and condolences to Connie and the children.
